Member of the Week: Susan Chapel

Susan Chapel of Vons #2206 has been in the industry for 18 years. She was hired in the seafood department and is currently a Seafood Manager.

Chapel’s hobbies include traveling to the Caribbean and various islands and countries in Europe. She also enjoys water sports and being on the computer.

When asked what inspired her to get more involved she said, “I have always been interested. I was able to go up north with some members during the strike to boycott Safeway, and am looking forward to the Labor Studies Classes.”

Q: What is it you like most about your job?

A: “I like being in a union job, I like voicing my opinion and standing for what I believe. I like to take care of my people.”

Q: How would your life be different if you were not a union member?

A: “Being a Steward has made me understand what power our voices can actually have.”

Q: If you could make a change in the workplace, what would it be?

A: “To have more help, and more unity.”
