Member of the Week: Cirilo Diaz

Cirilo Diaz of Albertson’s 6124, has been in the industry for 42 years. He started as a courtesy clerk for Shopping Bag Food Stores in 1970 and is currently a checker.

Diaz’s hobbies include computers, cars, being involved with his children’s activities and walking. Diaz became a Shop Steward when the primary at his store in Fullerton was transferred out. “I was asked to fill in and immediately accepted.”

Diaz can also be found at local events handing out fliers, asking for signatures and informing the public on issues that trouble the industry.

When asked what inspired him to get more involved he said, “Having gone through unfair situations with management, , and my ability to communicate with fellow workers both in English and Spanish.”

Q: What is it you like most about your job?

A: “Communicating with customers, workers and management. Just getting the job done.”
