Member of the Week: Vivian Barlund

Vivian Barlund of Albertsons #6194 has been in the industry for 16 years. She started as a Bakery Clerk, became a Bakery Manager, moved to Customer Service Supervisor, Checker, Scan Coordinator, Bookkeeper, Safety, and returned to the Bakery.

Barlund’s hobbies include reading, writing, cooking, dance parties with her kids.

When asked what inspired her to get more involved she said, “I wanted to be more educated and able to help my fellow members.”

Q: How would your life be different if you were not a union member?

A: “I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to be a part of the most rewarding and humbling experience.”

Q: If you could make a change in the workplace, what would it be?

A: “I would want management to care about what is best for it’s employees.”

Q: What in your life are you most proud of?

A: “That after everything that I’ve been through I refuse to become a victim, I will always prevail.”

Q: What is your greatest asset?

A: “My belief in the power of people making change.”

Q: What is it you like most about your job?

A: “That I can teach people what their rights are and motivate them to stand up for what is right.”
