Member of the Week: Michele Clarke

Michele Clarke of the UFCW Food Employers Joint Trust Fund has been in the industry for 16 years. She was hired as a Health Benefits clerk at Local 324, worked at the Branch Office, and later transferred to the Fund Office. She currently works in the Eligibility Department.

Clarke’s hobbies include faux paint finishes, crafts, scuba diving, beadwork, lamp making, reading and collecting shoes.

When asked what inspired her to get more involved she said, “I feel that the union is very important to workers. I think that the wages and benefits we have are worth fighting for.”

Q: What is it you like most about your job?

A: “I like being able to help the members in the food industry with their benefits. I like informing them on their coverage, and explaining the details of their coverage. When members ask me what the union does for them I am always happy to tell them that ALL of the benefits they have, as well as their decent wages and contractual guarantees are provided because they have a union.”
