Member of the Week: Joann Fistler
Joann Fistler of Vons #2803 has been in the industry over 40 years. She started as a checker in Santa Barbara and is a checker at 2803 now.
Fistler’s hobbies include biking, golfing, camping, making greeting cards, and rubber stamping.
When asked what inspired her to get more involved she said, “I knew most of the people from the remodel and thought I could be helpful.”
Q: How would your life be different if you were not a union member?
A: “I’m not sure… I’ve been in the union for so long, and I can’t imagine not being in the union.”
Q: If you could make a change in the workplace, what would it be?
A: “I would like to improve communication with management and staff. It would be better for management and staff overall.”
Q: What in your life are you most proud of?
A: “My 26 year-old son. I am very proud of him.”
Q: What is it you like most about your job?
A: “Customers. I work and live in Seal Beach, it’s nice to see the same people regularly.”
