Member of the Week: Gilbert Lomeli
Gilbert Lomeli of Ralphs #116 has been in the industry for 5 years. He is started in the bakery and is now a GM on night crew.
Lomeli’s hobbies include travel, tattoos, car shows and car restoration.
Q: How would your life be different if you were not a union member?
A: “I wouldn’t have my job back. I am not sure where I would be. The union helped me get my job back with backpay when I was wrongfully terminated.”
Q: What in your life are you most proud of?
A: “I finished a rebuild of a Chrystler 300. It was a lot of work, but I enjoyed it.”
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: “Night crew goes by quick. There is a lot to do so time flies. I like my co-workers a lot too. We get along well.”
Q: If you could make one change at the workplace what would it be?
A: “More hours. It would help to get people with fewer hours more so we can get everything done that we need to.”
