UFCW 324 stands in solidarity with the Coalition of Kaiser Permanente Unions

UFCW Local 324 stands in solidarity with the members of the Coalition of Kaiser Permanente Unions as they bargain for a fair contract. All Kaiser Permanente employees, regardless of union affiliation, want the same thing – for Kaiser Permanente to fix the staffing crisis by increasing compensation to attract and retain experienced employees, improving working conditions, hiring more aggressively, and working with labor to develop employees to fill future vacancies.

The Alliance of Health Care Unions, which UFCW Local 324 is a part of, has been calling on KP to fix the staffing crisis for over a year. Coalition members face the same issues our members face, and when the Coalition is successful in improving staffing for their represented positions, patient care and working conditions for our membership will improve as well.  Like the Coalition, we are troubled by a turn away from partnership by Kaiser Permanente.  It is time for KP to change course, commit to improving partnership, and once again work together with labor to make Kaiser Permanente the best place to work and the best place to receive care.

Under your contract, you do not have the right to miss work because of Coalition activities, but you can join picket lines off the clock – before work, during your lunch, or after work.

Please note that your contract does not require you to perform work outside your classification or volunteer for OT work to perform the work of striking employees. If asked to do this, we suggest you contact your union representative immediately.
