Eaze Dissolution Rapid Response
October 4, 2024
Stachs, LLC/Eaze Technologies Inc UFCW Members:
Earlier today, Eaze informed its drivers and depot staff of its intention to “dissolve” operations in sixty (60) days. This notification is required by the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act. The WARN Act is a federal law that requires employers to provide advance notice of significant layoffs or plant closings. Eaze is also obligated to bargain the effects of its decision, and the union has already presented multiple demands including:
- Severance payments
- Continuation of health insurance and COBRA
- Layoff and Recall procedures
- Successor employer obligations (if there is one)
- Hiring and retention of affected UFCW members
Our union’s Workforce Development team is already busy preparing a Rapid Response plan to assist workers as they navigate this hardship. The Rapid Response resources include, but are not limited to:
- Unemployment Insurance (EDD) navigation
- Covered California registration
- CalFresh registration
- Connection to their local America’s Job Centers of CA (AJCCs–formerly called One-Stops)
Please bear in mind that voluntary quits may affect your ability to qualify for unemployment insurance benefits, and rights negotiated through effects bargaining with Eaze. We encourage all of our members to maintain solidarity with their union coworkers. That is how we won before, and it’s how we will overcome this latest challenge.
UFCW Locals will host a statewide Town Hall for all Eaze UFCW members via Zoom on Tuesday, October 8, at 6:00 PM PST. https://us06web.zoom.us/j/86743845081
We will provide additional details to the information in this notice and answer your questions to the best of our ability.
