Member of the Week: Joanne John Murphy
Joanne John Murphy of Central Parking has been in the industry for 2 years. She was hired as an office assistant and is now a Shop Steward and administrative assistant.
John-Murphy’s hobbies include riding jet skis and reading books for her book club.
When asked what inspired her to get more involved she said, “My Shop Steward Martha asked me to come to a labor class at the union. It inspired me to get more involved and I later was asked to be the Steward for my location.”
Q: What is it you like most about your job?
A: “My job as a Steward is rewarding. It allows me to be proactive in the workplace and has allowed me to be a safety net should my co-workers need it.”
