Member of the Week Sylvia Flores
Sylvia Flores of Kaiser Permanente has been in the industry for 24 years. She started out working as a Pharmacy Assistant and is currently a Pharmacy Technician at the Euclid facility.
Flores’ hobbies include staying in with a good book, spending time with family, loving on her pets and crocheting.
Flores also helps out during the holidays with the Angel Tree Program. She, and her family, donate gifts and food to an adopted family each year.
When asked what inspired her to get more involved she said, “I have been a steward for about five years now, I think it is important to have someone to help stand up for you. Some people just can’t do it for themselves.”
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: “I enjoy helping our patients and the good wages, the great benefits make it that much better.”
Q: How would your life be different if you were not a union member?
A: “I know I wouldn’t have the lifestyle that I do. Things would have been more difficult, and of course wages, healthcare, and the benefits of a contract would be unknown to me.”
Q: What in your life are you most proud of?
A: “My family, and being a part of it. That and being able to step up and help where I can.”
