Member of the Week: Selene Beard
Selene Beard of Albertsons #6148 has been in the industry for 22 years. She started out as a Courtesy Clerk and is currently the Floral Supervisor.
Beard’s hobbies include spending time with her family, sightseeing, going to the beach and mountains as well as being outdoors.
When asked what inspired her to get more involved she said, “Right is right, and I don’t like seeing people taken advantage of. We have contracts to follow and I want to make sure that people are treated fairly.”
Q: How would your life be different if you were not a union member?
A: “I wouldn’t have job security or the benefits that we have now.”
Q: What in your life are you most proud of?
A: “My family.”
Q: What do you like most about your job?
A: “I like being around people and I like arranging flowers for different occasions.”
