Member of the Week: Dana Morgan
Dana Morgan of Albertsons #6141 has been in the industry for 20 years. She started in the bakery and later became a bookkeeper before she tool a couple years off. When she returned she started in the meat department as a clerk and is now the meat manager.
Morgan’s hobbies include watching her husband play baseball, spending time at church, watching movies, spending time with her animals, and working on her home with her husband.
When asked what inspired her to get more involved she said, “A co-worker, Bob Martinez, was a steward, and inspired me to become one myself. I saw how he was able to help our store and I wanted to do it too.”
Q: How would your life be different if you were not a union member?
A: “I wouldn’t understand what ‘strike’ means, or how it felt to be a part of it. I learned a lot of respect for workers and what unions are all about.”
Q: If you could make a change in the workplace, what would it be?
A: “To be able to, or have time to talk to my co-workers, and educate them on important issues. We don’t have a lot of time at work to discuss things like Weingarten rights and why they should vote No on things like Prop 32.”
Q: What in your life are you most proud of?
A: “My family and my faith.”
Q: What is it you like most about your job?
A: “I like to make customers happy, and I like the work. I enjoy keeping things organized.”
