Albertsons Distribution Center 2026 Bargaining Updates

April 16, 2026

Breaking Alert: We’ve Reached a Tentative Agreement on our Albertsons Distribution Center Contract!

After four months of hard work and determination, we’re excited to announce that we have reached a tentative agreement with Albertsons on a new contract for the Distribution Center! Throughout this process, we’ve shown that when workers come together and rise up, we can fight for a better future for ourselves and our co-workers.

Following a 13-hour bargaining session, we’ve secured an agreement that addresses our priorities, which we want to share with you. It includes wins on all of the key issues we wanted – an additional pension so we can retire with dignity, wages to keep up with the cost of living in Southern California, and vacation accruals that we’ve earned. But remember – nothing is final until we all have the chance to review the details and cast our vote.

This victory wouldn’t have been possible without the power of our collective action. We stood strong against the company’s disrespect and made it clear that we were ready to fight for the contract we deserve.

Our solidarity and victory here sends a message to workers everywhere – when we fight, we win.

Next Steps

Remember, this is a tentative agreement. It is not final until you vote to accept it.

You will have the opportunity to review the deal and have your questions addressed before casting your vote. We will be scheduling vote days, times, and locations and an informational webinar shortly, so please look out for updates from us in the next couple of days.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to your Steward, Union Representative, or Bargaining Committee Members.

Today we met with Albertsons for another bargaining day on our contract, where we were joined by a federal mediator, who serves as a neutral party to help ensure that bargaining is productive. However, even with the mediator’s help, we’ve made no progress on our key issues. We’re also still waiting on the company to even give us a proposal on our number one issue – wages.

We can’t let the company continue to drag these negotiations on. That’s why the company needs to see that the people who are literally breaking their backs to make them successful are connecting with the customers who make the company profitable. Join us to handbill customers on Friday, April 24, 2026 from 12:30 to 1:30 at Albertsons 158 located at 1800 W Whittier Blvd, La Habra, CA 90631. We’ll be asking for customers to stand with us in our fight to ensure Albertsons knows we’re fighting together for our contract. RSVP here: https://ufcw324.org/albertsons-plant-handbill-action-rsvp/

Also, continue to wear your gold shirt every Tuesday during your shift! If you don’t have one, contact your union representatives to get one.

We’re encouraging the company to come to our next session on Thursday, April 16, 2026, prepared to make real progress on the issues in our contract we need to provide for our families. After that session, we will send another update.

In the meantime, if you have any questions about bargaining, or if there is anything we can help you with, please do not hesitate to reach out to your Steward, Union Representative, or Bargaining Committee Members.

March 19, 2026

Our contract has expired, and in the wake of our March on the Boss yesterday, where we delivered petitions signed by over 90% of the DC demanding fair wages, a reliable retirement, fair vacation accruals, and a manageable workload, Albertsons continues to drag its feet.

Today we met with the company for the first time in over a month and they barely moved on the issues important to us. It’s clear that Albertsons is digging into their position, especially around the two guaranteed consecutive days off around holidays.

We stood up and said to their faces today that taking away those two days is unacceptable. We have families we need to see. We have errands we need to do to live. These two days are absolutely necessary for us to get enough rest and perform our jobs safely.

It’s time our fight for a fair contract escalates and the company hears us! Every person at the DC must get involved to show Albertsons that we’re ready to fight to make our jobs and our lives better.

Going forward, wear your gold shirt every Tuesday during your shift, starting Tuesday March 24! If you don’t have one, union representatives will be at the DC on Tuesday to give you one.

We will send another update after our next sessions on April 9, 2026 and April 17, 2026. In the meantime, if you have any questions about bargaining, or if there is anything we can help you with, please do not hesitate to reach out to your Steward, Union Representative, or Bargaining Committee Members.

Today, we met with Albertsons for our second day of bargaining, where we heard the company’s responses to our proposals and the changes they want to see taken away in our contract.

It was clear today that Albertson’s priority was to remove many of the benefits in our contract. They want to hire more non-union employees, remove the two guaranteed consecutive days off around a holiday, and implement more automation in the DC.

At the last bargaining session, we made our priorities known to Albertsons, including how important fair wages, benefits, and a manageable workload are to us, but Albertsons just wants to whittle away at our contract protections. What’s worse is that they didn’t even respond to some of our most important issues like wages and our workload.

It’s more necessary than ever to show Albertsons that we’re ready to fight to make our jobs and our lives better before our contract expires on March 7. We will not accept a contract that is anything less than what we deserve.

What can you do to show Albertsons you’re ready to stand together to get a strong contract?

Sign the petition that demands Albertsons provide fair wages, a reliable retirement, fair vacation accruals, and a manageable workload. Union representatives, stewards and bargaining committee members will have the petition in the DC later this week.

Join us on a Zoom webinar on Thursday, February 19 at 1:30PM where we’ll go over what’s happened in negotiations and how we are going to escalate our campaign. Register here: https://us06web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_DaAKm4U1Trm98TRCfK-2DQ

We will send another update after our next session on March 19, 2026. In the meantime, stay engaged and informed as the campaign escalates. We’ll be sending texts and emails about the contract campaign, so make sure your contact information is up to date. Connect with your Union Representative if you’re not receiving texts or emails from UFCW 324.

If you have any questions about bargaining, or if there is anything we can help you with, please do not hesitate to reach out to your Steward, Union Representative, or Bargaining Committee Members.

January 26, 2026

On January 26, 2026, we met with Albertsons for our very first round of bargaining with the largest bargaining committee we’ve ever had, with members representing every classification, work area and shift, including part-timers, in the DC. We showed up as a strong, united force of proud members ready to get the contract we deserve. We began the bargaining session by presenting all of our proposals, including an additional pension so we can retire with dignity, healthcare benefits to keep us well, wages to keep up with the cost of living in Southern California, and a drafting system that works for all of us.

Albertsons asked some questions about our proposals, but didn’t have any proposals of their own ready for us. However, they said they would have some ready the next time we meet.

What we do isn’t comparable to other jobs, and our bodies reflect the wear and tear of working for this company for years. The proposals we gave to Albertsons today express the facts of the work we do every day, and we urge Albertsons to keep that in mind while they write up their proposals.

It’s time to fight to make our jobs and our lives better. We will not accept a contract that is anything less than what we deserve. We all need to stand together, whether we’re at the bargaining table or in the DC, to have the power to show Albertsons that we’re serious about our proposals and that we’re ready to fight together to get a contract we deserve.

What’s next?

We will meet with Albertsons again on February 9, 2026, for our second round of bargaining, and we will send another update after that session. In the meantime, follow UFCW 324 on our website and social media accounts!
