Member of the Week: John Redner
John Redner of Ralphs #18 has been in the industry for 28 years. He has been working night crew for his entire career.
Redner’s hobbies include sports. He loves to watch them and enjoys playing when time permits.
When asked what inspired him to get more involved he said, “I believe that everyone should be paid a fair wage. My mother and my grandmother were both union gals and taught me that though sometimes you don’t like it, you have to do what’s right. Sometimes you have to fight for the little guy.”
Q: How would your life be different if you were not a union member?
A: “I wouldn’t have the protections and the benefits I do.”
Q: If you could make a change in the workplace, what would it be?
A: “I would like more help. Hours are being cut more and more and the workload isn’t any different.”
Q: What is it you like most about your job?
A: “The hard work. There is a lot to be done and I feel good when I get it done.”
