Member of the Week: Maria Carrillo
Maria Carrillo of Rite Aid #5751, has been in the industry for more than 30 years, working her way up from a cashier in 1984 to working as a pharmacy tech.
Carrillo’s hobbies include cooking and making custom jewelry.
When asked what inspired her to get more involved she said, “Getting to meet new employees and letting them know what the union has to offer and secure our jobs. I would also like to get more involved in organizing events in the future.”
Q: What is it you like most about your job?
A: “Working with the public. I like to help people with what they need.”
Q: How would your life be different if you were not a union member?
A: “I wouldn’t make what I do, and I wouldn’t be able to enjoy the time off that I have.”
Q: What in your life are you most proud of?
A: “My family.”
