UFCW 324 Elects Jose Perez as President

Buena Park, CA – Today, the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) Local 324 announced that the Executive Board of the union elected Jose Perez as President for a three-year term, ending December 31, 2028.

Jose began his career at Ralphs as a courtesy clerk in 1986. A year later, he became a meat clerk. One year after becoming a meat clerk, he completed a two-year apprenticeship program and was promoted to meat manager. In 2000, Jose joined the staff of UFCW 324 as an organizer. He later took on new roles as a union representative and Leadership Director.

In 1997, Jose took a leave of absence from Ralphs and served as a Special Project Union Representative (SPUR) in the union’s organizing department. He would later become the union’s Leadership Director, a position that oversaw the SPUR program and developed leaders from the ground up to assist in campaigns. Jose served for four years in that role before being elected as President.

“It has been an honor to work individually with each union member who comes out of our stores and worksites, and develop them into the future organizers and leaders they can be,” said Jose Perez, President, UFCW 324. “With this new role, I get the opportunity to lead and ensure that not only UFCW 324 members, but working families across the nation, have good jobs, high wages, and respect on the job. Over my 39 years in the industry, I’ve been excited about each new step, but this is undeniably the most exciting role I’ve had. I am committed to maintaining UFCW 324’s excellent track record of winning nation-leading contracts for our members and ensuring that workers have a voice in their worksites and their communities.”
