Statement from Jose Perez, President, UFCW 324, on Allegations Regarding Cesar Chavez

“These horrific and deeply disturbing allegations about Cesar Chavez come as a profound shock, and UFCW 324 stands firmly with the survivors and victims. We believe victims’ voices must be heard, respected, and taken seriously. The labor movement exists not only to protect workers’ livelihoods but to ensure their safety, dignity, and freedom from harassment, abuse, or assault in any form.

“UFCW 324 will always stand in solidarity with farmworkers and their history that cannot be erased by the horrific actions of one person. Fighting for and winning critical rights through collective action, resilience, and determination is the backbone of the labor movement, and we will continue to stand with our brothers, sisters, and siblings in it.

“UFCW 324’s values remain unchanged. We’re here to organize workers, fight for immigrants, and advance economic justice for all working people. Our union will not participate or endorse any upcoming activities for Cesar Chavez Day.
